Saints Streets Endoscopy Center Earns Recognition

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (March 6, 2009) – Saints Streets Endoscopy Center has earned the designation of "Quality Endoscopy Unit,” along with a certificate of recognition from the American Society for Gastointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). This designation is a reflection of the Center's high standards in quality and patient safety, including adherence to ASGE standards on quality assurance and the Center for Disease Control's infection control guidelines.

Saints Streets Endoscopy Center was one of 56 endoscopy units to be recognized in the United States – and the only center to earn this distinction in Louisiana. Additionally, they are the only center with this recognition in the Southeastern United States.

"This recognition qualifies what is being done for patients who choose to have their endoscopic procedure performed at Saints Streets Endoscopy Center. The state of the art equipment being used here yields high quality exams with decreased risk to the patient. The center was the first in Louisiana to acquire High Definition equipment. Studies performed here (with results being selected for presentation in Chicago during "Digestive Disease Week” in June, 2009) validate our increased polyp detection rate due to this new equipment. The patient is the ultimate beneficiary of this technology. We at Saints Streets Endoscopy Center are proud to have achieved this designation from ASGE and look forward to our future move into the new facility and continued studies that further demonstrate the value of High Definition endoscopy.” . . . . .Dr. Stephen G. Abshire, Saints Streets Endoscopy Medical Director.

Saints Streets Endoscopy Center will be moving in late spring of 2009 to the Burdin Reihl Center located at 1211 Coolidge Boulevard. In conjunction with this move, Saints Streets will be changing its name to Lafayette General Endoscopy Center.

Saints Streets Endoscopy Center is a partnership between gastroenterologists Stephen G. Abshire, MD, James N. Arterburn, MD, Jacque F. Noel, III, MD and Lafayette General Medical Center.
